Case Studies

Case Study: Innovation Management at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)

As a Government body, DEWA recognised the importance of adopting a forward thinking strategy to support the UAE Vision 2021.

While innovation has always been an essential focus area, the challenge was making it a central theme that would influence all future strategic decisions. DEWA has developed its Innovation Strategy to steer all their efforts with a clear agenda supported by the key innovation enablers required to implement the strategy. DEWA is certified by Lloyd’s Register (LR) to IT Service Management System standard ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011. Based on this successful existing relationship, DEWA engaged LR to find a solution that would bring innovation to the forefront.

Following significant research, LR identified the European innovation management system standard CEN 16555-1:2013 as a solution that would provide DEWA with the guiding principles to achieve their goals and implement a management system tailored to promote innovation internally.

Customized Assurance to meet your unique requirements

Second Party • Supply Chain and Supplier Management • Company Specific Standards

Whether you strive for food safety, environmental sustainability, social responsibility, health and safety, business continuity, security or even supply chain assurance, the ways in which your organization manages these programs and the methods by which their performance is measured may require a customized approach – one that takes into account the specific business needs and objectives of your organization.

You may have already developed or wish to develop your own company specific standard and you may be looking to benchmark against international standards such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, FSSC 22000 or OHSAS 18001. Whichever route you’ve taken, or are about to take, will require regular, impartial assessment and verification to help assure that your requirements are being met, that your risks are being managed effectively, and that your reputation is being protected.
