LRQA among first to sign the ACT Declaration on Private Sector Climate Action and Leadership at COP22

LRQA, the world’s leading provider of professional assurance services, is one of the first organisations to sign the ACT Declaration on Private Sector Climate Action and Leadership at COP22, the UN Climate Change Conference 2016, which is currently taking place in Marrakech.

The ACT project (Assessing low-Carbon Transition) was developed by ADEME, the French Environment and Energy Management Agency, and CDP, the not-for-profit organisation that runs the global disclosure system for managing environmental impacts. The ACT initiative assesses the degree to which organisations are ready to transition to a low-carbon economy, using a sector specific methodology. Signing the declaration sends a clear signal of the willingness to work towards a number of common goals, which include: improving the transparency of meaningful climate related disclosures for the private sector, namely those pertaining to the characterisation of their climate actions.

Signing the declaration on behalf of LRQA, Vincent Doumeizel, Vice President Food, Beverage & Sustainability, stated, “We are proud to demonstrate our commitment to the ACT initiative, as we recognise the need to accelerate climate action and our role in supporting organisations to achieve this.”

LRQA is one of the founding members of the CDP verification programme, and is represented on CDP’s verification working group, which works to further develop CDP’s approach to the verification of climate change data and support disclosing companies.
