Lloyd’s Register, the global engineering, technical and business services organisation, has acquired Acoura, the UK’s leading compliance and safety specialists for the food and drink industry, to strengthen the market-leading position of LRQA’s food safety assurance services.
Lloyd’s Register Foundation has agreed a £500k grant to the world leading food sciences institution, Wageningen University and Research (WUR), supporting the Safe production Of Marine plants and use of Ocean Space (SOMOS). The project was developed jointly between LRQA, the Foundation and WUR, and is the first project targeted at the food sector to be funded by the Foundation.
This week marked the start of the 60th Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) summit which this year, is being held in Cape Town, South Africa. LRQA Chief Operating Officer, Paul Graaf and LRQA Vice President Food and Beverage, Vincent Doumeizel are representing LRQA at the conference. LRQA is a member of the Lloyd’s Register group.
ISO 22000, the International Standard for food management systems, is being revised to ensure it meets new food safety requirements throughout the supply chain. The international working group (ISO/TC 34/SC 17/WG 8) responsible for the revision held its fourth meeting last month in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
